AMSE™ (Asso­ci­a­tion of Mil­i­tary Spouse Entre­pre­neurs) con­nects Mil­i­tary Spouse busi­ness own­ers with the tools and resources need­ed to become suc­cess­ful in launch­ing and grow­ing their busi­ness­es. AMSE is an Exclu­sive Com­mu­ni­ty for Mil­i­tary Spouse Entre­pre­neurs™ to Start, Scale, and Sus­tain their businesses. 

Being a mil­i­tary spouse goes beyond just being a sup­port­ive part­ner to a mil­i­tary mem­ber. It entails adapt­ing to the unique chal­lenges that come with it, includ­ing con­stant mov­ing and finan­cial insta­bil­i­ty. How­ev­er, this does not mean that mil­i­tary spous­es can­not pur­sue their pas­sion for entre­pre­neur­ship. With AMSE’s exclu­sive course, mil­i­tary spous­es can now gain valu­able insights on how to start and grow their busi­ness­es, despite the hur­dles that come with mil­i­tary life. The course is specif­i­cal­ly designed with mil­i­tary spous­es in mind, con­sist­ing of 7 units filled with engag­ing videos, help­ful work­sheets, and addi­tion­al resources. 

Our Methodology

Nav­i­gat­ing entre­pre­neur­ship is no easy feat, espe­cial­ly for those who may have oth­er pri­or­i­ties, such as rais­ing a fam­i­ly or sup­port­ing a spouse who serves in the mil­i­tary. That’s why hav­ing the right resources and sup­port can make all the dif­fer­ence for mil­i­tary spous­es. When we designed this work­book, we knew we had to con­sid­er the unique chal­lenges that mil­i­tary spous­es face when start­ing and run­ning a business.

Our team worked close­ly with the AMSE lead­er­ship team to ensure that we aligned with the cur­ricu­lum struc­ture and cre­at­ed a resource that was easy to fol­low and struc­tured in a way that did­n’t feel over­whelm­ing. This is why we cre­at­ed icons for spe­cif­ic sec­tions in our work­book — to help mil­i­tary spous­es eas­i­ly dif­fer­en­ti­ate each sec­tion as they nav­i­gate the work­book. These icons prompt ideation, work­sheets, and resources, fur­ther con­tribut­ing to an orga­nized and stream­lined process. 

Structuring Information

As we tack­led the chal­lenge of cre­at­ing a visu­al­ly engag­ing cur­ricu­lum, we approached the process with a strate­gic mind­set. Draw­ing from our expe­ri­ences as learn­ers, we knew a visu­al hier­ar­chy was key to retain­ing infor­ma­tion. There­fore, we delved deeply into the cur­ricu­lum details, con­sid­er­ing each piece from a mil­i­tary spouse’s per­spec­tive. Through care­ful analy­sis and orga­ni­za­tion, we craft­ed a design high­light­ing the most essen­tial infor­ma­tion while still giv­ing val­ue to small­er details. Our goal was not to sim­ply copy and paste the infor­ma­tion, but to tru­ly under­stand and inter­nal­ize it.
