Guide Your Brand with Color Trends in 2020

As more designers and marketers become aware of how color affects their audience, we’re seeing major brands implement color in new and creative ways. 2020 marks our fourth year delivering the new NCD Color Trends Guidebook 2020 to help you develop your brand potential!

Color Use Isn’t New

While it seems color is the new trend in communication, it isn’t. Color use traces back to our earliest days. Before we could even write, color was used to telegraph warnings and to tell cave painters’ stories. Color is what infants connect to well before they begin to develop language. And when we look at an ad, statistics show we identify color before copy.

It’s no wonder that brands are embracing the power of color again! Louis Vuitton’s London flagship store got a complete facade and interior lift using vibrant colors throughout. Apple is returning to it’s colorful roots after years of minimalist product design and displays, and is putting it out there with their new wildly colorful storefront in NYC.  In fact, there’s rapid growth of immersive experiences based on color, drawing thousands to get an Instagrammable photo. My branded photo shoot below was done in just such an environment.

Perhaps your brand is working with more color too… or wants to…

You’ve Come to the Right Place!

If you’re looking to embrace more color for your brand in the new year, whether personal or corporate, you may be curious if you should apply Pantone’s newly announced Color of the Year: Classic Blue. This hue has a broad appeal, appropriate for many uses alone or in combination. But it can take on varied  meaning and evoke different emotions depending on what it’s paired with.

We at Nicte Creative design can help you understand if Classic Blue works with your current colors, how relatable it is to your industry or audience and what emotions it provokes. Knowing this will maximize the opportunities for your target market to connect with your company and its values.
