Nicte Creative Design is proud to announce our winning design in the 2016 American Package Design Awards. Hosted by Graphic Design USA (GDUSA) and sponsored by Neenah Paper. Our winning design, the Operation Drool Overload, was designed by NCD in a partnership with Dogs on Deployment and Lazy Dog Cookie Co. We were selected among 200 elite design firms worldwide. Based on our exceptional design and our ability to forge an emotional connection with consumers.
The Operation Drool Overload packaging design was featured among Whole Foods, P&G, GE, UNICEF, Target, Pepsi, Fisher Price, Kellogg, Burts Bees… just to name a few.

Our main goal was to create a design that would bring an emotional reward surrounding the brand experience and purchase of this product. The goal was to make people feel connected to both brands. And increase customer engagement when they realized their purchase made a difference.
Based on our research, there is no dog treat packaging that includes a military member in their photographs. We realized implementing this gave the design a strong visual differentiation point. Considering shelf placement, we need it to be eye-catching. Other than Orange being part of Dogs on Deployment’s brand, it’s also a vibrant color that communicates happiness, optimism, and good-nature.
Above all, we wanted to show the unique value of the partnership. And how the consumer would have a part in making a difference. Not just for the health of their pet, but in the lives of American military men and women. As a result, consumers would be more likely to purchase this product over the next healthy product that doesn’t help to a non-profit.
Nicte’s design was a true labor of love and takes pride in having supported the mission of Dogs on Deployment. This project also had collaborative efforts with copy development from: Nicte Cuevas, Debbie Gaskell, Alisa Johnson, Keith & Amy Augustine, and Kaydee Johansen.
