Custom illustration for medal design

Our project centered on designing a unique Fiesta Medal for the NICU department at the San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC). This project holds a personal connection as Nicte’s son spent several months in that NICU. The goal was to raise funds for a NICU reunion celebrating former NICU babies and their families.

The Fiesta Medal also symbolizes a nod to the rich tradition of Fiesta Medals in San Antonio, Texas. San Antonio Fiesta Medals are a cherished tradition in the city, with locals and visitors alike collecting these vibrant, pin-on tokens that capture the spirit of the annual Fiesta celebration and the diverse cultural heritage of San Antonio.

Our Methodology

Our goal was to create a unique character that holds a strong connection to the beloved world of Dr. Seuss. Drawing inspiration from Dr. Seuss’s whimsical and colorful style, the character is designed to embody the spirit of resilience of every NICU baby. This character’s cape is a symbolic testament to the warrior spirit of our NICU graduates, their incredible strength, and the battles they’ve triumphed over.
